When in Italy do like Italians do! Drive Italian (and not any but an Abarth!), eat amazing food and do not forget about the chocolates. I guess that is why they call it Dolce Vita. And when speaking about sweets what is better than a quick visit to Perugia – Italian charm and chocolate heaven? So let’s go!

Where to stay ?

Needless to say Italy is the land of history and Castello’s and who would not dream of feeling like a royal for a day? Perugia offers a range of accommodation but runaway from the crowds and find your perfect getaway. Surrounded by picturesque surroundings, vineyards and crystal clear skies and it is not a fairy-tale but a reality – Castello di Ramazzano. It is amazing that just a few years ago this Castello did not even have a roof but current owners have done the most amazing job at restoring it without taking away its original charm. Just entering through the door is  picture perfect capturing the surroundings but also the beautifully restored original ceiling and the amazing wine cellars and bigger than me fireplaces.

Psst Ramazzano is just a few minutes drive away from Perugia just the perfect distance to enjoy your Italian drive!

Did I mention that this place is also an amazing wedding venue!

Where to eat?

Perugia culinary scene does not disappoint. L’Osteria del Bosco is located between Ramazzano and Perugia but it is not to be missed if you want to eat like local. Prices are slightly on the high end but it is totally worth it.

Perugia is the place to enjoy some excellent truffle so why not head into Luce restaurant into the historic centre of Perugia. It won’t leave you disappointed!

What to do ?

Perugia is of course famous for its chocolate so If you visit Perugia in October do checkout the chocolate festival. You may be slightly disappointed but you can try all the chocolate brand you can possibly wish for.

If visiting during any other time the historic centre and the defensive historic walls and crawling streets are enough of a reason to visit and get lost exploring the city!

Where to shop?

If in Perugia go local. This is always my motto whenever I visit any place – finding that one unique brand that defines a place makes it worthwhile to cross the globe! Lorena Antoniazzi offers the most cosy cots and sweaters with an Italian twist of course and premium materials. I

And if you have a little extra time?

Driving around feels like you crushed and ended up in heaven so do visit the local areas. In particular if you have a little extra time pay a visit to Saturnia. Ok it might be overcrowded but it is amazing what nature has created here. Also on the way do explore some local winery and why not stay overnight. Tenuta Montauto has  selection of amazing wines, olive oils and you could spend the night and relax around the pool!
