Patricia, the creative designer behind the fascinating brand PatBo showed an early interest in design and textiles in her hometown Uberlandia, Brazil. Her style is influenced by a special type of hand embroidery, which is rare in Brazil. Her collections are the perfect manifestation of colour, boldness, and various materials and finishes. The beautiful embroideries add the perfect finishing wrap that truly represent Brazil. Although she studied law, her multi-brand store became popular with orders for custom-made dresses. It is no surprise that she decided to follow her passion and study fashion design. The latter culminated with the creation of the PatBo brand combining both casual styles along with gowns worthy of a princess.

Today the brand takes pride in creating its unique pieces locally. Patricia is a great support for women to learn techniques at her School of Embroidery (for free), which could not only grant them a place in her factory but also enable them to support their livelihood. In a world where production is constantly exported, this highlights the values that the brand stands for. These women become artisans who appreciate the details just like Patricia does and the small details make these dresses so very special. This is definitely not the production line of many high street stores, a dress is seen as a true piece of art and as required art takes time and dedication of about 100 days.

Despite dividing her time between her hometown and Sao Paolo where her atelier is located, Patricia meticulously checks each piece to perfection.

Bonaldi is not a household name in Brazil only, as the designer’s passion for unique designs has not gone unnoticed internationally with celebrities wearing her clothes at the Cannes Film Festival and the famous amfAR Gala organized there every year or Baile de Vogue in Sao Paolo. Talking about international fame, she was the first Brazilian designer to be sold in Harrods. Her collections transpose one to a place of joy, peace and serenity.

Although I have never been to her show in person (not counting the digital one of this year), I wore a PatBo gown on my 30^th birthday and I could not felt happier.

I’m pretty excited to collect all the pieces that I bought from her collection on my next trip to Brazil. Owning a PatBo is like having a piece of history, a history of fashion design that is rapidly growing in Brazil and Patricia is the one to watch as each collection takes it to the next level.
