Margo De Vidal is a Spanish designer who is a descendant of a family of tailors. Naturally this inspired her to become a designer herself and she kicked off her career by making costumes for different TV and Film projects. Margo has been based in Malta since 2012 and she participated in last year’s Malta Fashion Week. Her passion for kimonos is one of the things that visibly inspire her as seen in her clothing, however this year’s collection promises new interesting combinations of her favorite materials and natural fabrics such as silk, linen, cotton and leather. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us during the New Designer’s Fashion Show as part of Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week.
1: What inspired you for the collection that you will be presenting during Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week 2015?
My new collection is inspired by the desert.
2: What are the main trends this season in your opinion?
I would think that the main trend does not exist.
3: What inspired you to create your own fashion brand?
My passion for the fashion design and my passion for creating things.
4: Is this the first time you participate in Malta Fashion Week?
No, It is not, It is my 2nd time.
5: Which international brands do you follow or inspire you?
I have a big list, let’s say Balenciaga, Balmain, Marni, Isabel Marant, Jil Sander…
6: Do you have plans to expand outside of Malta?
I would like to do it, I am thinking about it.
7: What kind of designs do you enjoy doing most?
Mainly I enjoy designing with the kind of material like leather, linnen, silk…but I must say that I love “kimono”
