Preview MC Fashion
Malcolm Cremona is the designer behind MC Fashion participating at the New Designers Fashion Show during Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week 2015. You may remember some of his work during the Fashion Awards Ceremony last year and all these colors. This is precisely where he gets inspiration from – neon lights, parties and crazy colors presented in a funky way. I believe his collection is very much oriented towards the young crowd and people who like to enjoy life to the full and don’t stop the party. For those of you who love John Galliano’s designs you will love no less those created by Malcolm Cremona.
Q01: What inspired you for the collection that you will be presenting during Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week 2015?
My collection NEON LIGHTS is inspired from the memorable nights out, young-adults experience, till the present day. It portrays different bright neon colors in a stylish and funky blend of clothes both for females and males that celebrate the personality of the individual – fun, wild and ready for an awesome summer night out.
Q02: What are the main trends this season in your opinion?
As a fashion designer, I don’t believe that one should follow any trend. If everyone follows the same trend, everyone ends up wearing the same type of clothes, shoes and style. The beauty of fashion is that every individual shows his/her personal unique style. People need to accept and respect the opinion of others when it comes to style.
Q03: What inspired you to create your own fashion brand?
If you look around, inspiration comes from the biggest to the smallest things. One can find inspiration everywhere. During my studies at MCAST Art & Design, my main inspiration was from nature since the institute was surrounded by fields, trees and flowers. But nowadays, mostly I get inspired from the nights out, which led me to NEON LIGHTS.
Q04: Is this the first time you participate in Malta Fashion Week and have you also participated in any other Fashion events abroad?
This is my first year participating in Malta Fashion Week in the new designer fashion show category. Last year I did a fashion show with one of the nominee for the best hairstylist. Every outfit of each model was pinned 10 minutes before the show. I have participated in many local fashion shows so far but I am not excluding the possibility to show my designs in a foreign country.
Q05: Which international brands do you follow or inspire you?
The person who most inspires me is John Galliano mostly because his style is very colorful and funky.
Q06: Do you have plans to expand outside of Malta?
At the moment I am not planning to do so since I wish to expand my experience more in fashion design but I do not disregard the possibility of expanding abroad. But at the end of the day I would like to develop here in Malta.
Q07: What kind of designs do you enjoy doing most?
I started mostly on male clothing since I wish to progress the male fashion especially since I believe that in Malta there is a lot of room for improvement. But nowadays I feel more comfortable doing female clothes especially because most of my clients are females.
Q08: What would you like to achieve, what are your future plans and is there a brand which success you would like to follow?
Well I wish to make a name for myself and create my own line of clothing, which would then be available for purchase. My dream for the future is to open my own clothing business. Locally, I find Charles and Ron as a big inspiration for Maltese fashion.
